The Royal Danish Playhouse

This year’s theme is “Think Human” and Copenhagen has been turned into a living lab for experimentation of future people-friendly designs. There are three large scale sustainable urban development labs:

  2. Carlsberg
  3. Nordhavnen

Kvaesthusmolen

All of this year’s “Think” exhibitions are curated by architects Tina Midtgaard and Karen Kjaergaard.

There are 36 organizations and companies involved in Copenhagen Design Week 2011, including Bella Center, Den Fri, IKEA, Mindlab and Vola, to name a few.

The categories that will hold exhibitions are Architecture, The Design Zone, Design to Improve Life, Furniture and Interiors, and Society Challenges.

Some of the exhibitions and buildings that people can attend or visit include:

Copenhagen X is an interactive presentation of the experiences gained in the last ten years in Denmark to inspire visitors and for them to bring home good sustainable ideas. It runs from June 10, 2011 – October 23, 2011 and is described as:

“The program demonstrates how design can contribute solving both local and global challenges – in relation to the individual, the society and globally.”
