Years after Warhol, who would have thought that can-inspired art could still be fresh? And yet, City Harvest's annual tin can art competition repeatedly gives the homely container another 15 minutes of fame. For the past 19 years, City Harvest has sponsored a competition wherein food cans are used as an artistic medium for large-scale sculptural works. Designs are submitted by renowned architecture and design firms. Not just pure art, the sculptures are eventually dissembled and the cans donated to community food banks to feed the hungry.
