TreeHugger first covered architect Michelle Kaufmann 's Smart Home at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago in 2008 with a guest post by Brian Jones. It is a different creature today; the Museum redoes the interior every year. Being in Chicago for green building tradeshow Greenbuild , I visited the museum to see the house for myself (although I will admit that all my life I have wanted to see that captured U-Boat the museum has on display and this was my chance!) Anne Rashford, Director of Temporary Exhibits, graciously took me on a wonderful private tour. Michelle Kaufmann is a dear friend from pre-TreeHugger days; we have covered her work extensively.
