I was lucky enough to snag one of the remaining spots at Social Change Institute 2011 at the Leadership Institute at Hollyhock, on spectacular Cortes Island, June 8 to 12. I’m hoping to meet some new people who are working towards similar goals, build my engagement network, and ideally pick up a few ideas and skills along the way. I expect I’ll be outside my comfort zone for much of this conference, but I also expect to come home inspired and charged up.

Speakers include Marc Lee of the Canadian Center for Policy Alternatives, on Climate Justice and Transformative Change. (By the way, speaking of transformation, be sure to check out the center’s recent report Transportation Transformation.)

Other interesting bits include an Andy Beers workshop on Enabling Social Change through Digital and Social Media, and a keynote by Alnoor Ladha on “The rise of the movement entrepreneur: Creating disruption and innovation through movement building.” There will be case studies on NextUp.ca and LeadNow.ca, lots of coaching and one-on-one advice, and tons of other goodies. Plus, I hear the food’s not bad!

Here’s a short video explaining what it’s all about:
