If I open my attic hatch (roof/soffit vents, high attic, no insulation) & downstairs windows, will downstairs house with no AC be cooler?

One-story Florida house built in 1941 with absolutely nothing in the attic. It seems to me that if I keep the attic hatch open and let the air recirculate for a few weeks (heat rises), the house downstairs might be cooler? Windows will be open downstairs. With the attic hatch closed all the time, doesn't the hot air stay in the house?
