Chaweng is the most popular beach town on Ko Samui Island. Featuring a 7-km long white stretch of sunset beach and a buzzing city center to shop, dine and party, this is the place to be for those travelers who are up for fun, leisure, beach days and entertainment. Need some inspiration for your holiday itinerary? Here are 5 things to do in Chaweng:

1. Stay in your own private pool villa

First of all, to get settled in, book yourself a private villa either in the heart of Chaweng or just outside of the center. Your villa will be the perfect base from where you can explore this lively town and its surroundings. Take your time, slowly adapt to the heat, the scents, the delicious yet spicy Thai food and take it from there at a slow pace. You are on holiday, after all. It will be lovely to have your own little luxury oasis where you can swim in the pool, sunbathe, create your own tropical cocktails and sleep as good as you would at home in air-conditioned comfort. The privacy you get when staying in a private villa is priceless!

2. Swimming, chilling and water sports at Chaweng Beach

The beautiful powdery white sandy beach is the main attraction point of Chaweng. The sea is perfectly azure blue, the sand is warm and soft, and apart from swimming and beach lounging, there are plenty of things to do around here, too. Jet Skis, banana boats, kayaks – you can try all of these watersports here at Chaweng Beach. You can also go windsurfing and parasailing if you are up for a thrill. For those beach lovers who want to get away from the crowds a bit, head over to the southern end where you will hit a beach called Chaweng Noi. After sunset, the beachfront restaurants at Chaweng Beach will drag out bean bags and tables, setting a lovely ambience to sip drinks by candlelight under the starry night sky.

3. Wat Khao Hua Jook & Q Bar

This gorgeous golden-roofed temple is perched on the slopes of a mountain, and it has stunning views of Chaweng Lake and Chaweng Beach. You can even see the Big Buddha watching over Chaweng town in the distance. Legends say that this temple contains a replica of Lord Buddha’s footprint. The footprint is displayed inside the pagoda. On your way to the top, you will pass Q Bar. Perhaps it is best to stop here on your way back down for some delightful sundowner cocktails. At night, this ultra-modern electro bar is also an amazing place to party kicks in.

4. Shop at Central Festival Samui

Central Festival Samui is a grand contemporary 3-level shopping and dining mall with over 200 shops, bars and restaurants. This lifestyle shopping haven is conveniently located on Chaweng Beach Road – you can’t miss it. There is a food court, a cinema and a huge activity area, too. Something for everyone!

5. Dive into the nightlife

Lots of travelers come to Chaweng to party. Bars, cafes and clubs are found all along Chaweng’s Beach Road. The music is loud, the colors are bright, the drinks are cheap, and you can watch cabaret performances or Thai boxing matches. Recommended places to party and have fun are Green Soi Mango, Legenda Bar, Soi Reggae and Ark Bar.
