Would cypress be a good choice for a porch we're adding in front of our house?

We have used cypress for a fence over 30 years ago, and it still has no sign of rotting or mildew.

Dear J Browon,

As for your 30 year old fence, its success in not succumbing to rot may be due, in part, to the finish applied to it at the time of install.
