What is the safest home insulation for asthma, allergies, compromised immune systems?

I'm in the midst of a home remodel-starting with the kitchen. I suffer from allergies and asthma and have to be careful with my immune system. I've done a lot of research and like many, I assumed green equaled safe. I'm now learning that's not true. Of all of the insulation products out there, do you recommend one in particular for people with the above mentioned sensitivities? I live in California.

I would recommend cellulose. It is manufactured with recycled newspapers and the only additive it usually some sort of boric acid. Fiberglass has a lot of adhesives in it so...
