The Buckminster Fuller Institute (BFI) will announce and celebrate the winning design of the 2012 Buckminster Fuller Challenge in an all-day event on June 6, 2012 hosted by the Cooper Union Institute for Sustainable Design.




 

 

Buckminster Fuller, inventor of the geodesic dome, was one of the world’s great architectural and engineering innovators. The worldwide Buckminster Fuller Challenge is held to reward inovation and creativity. The winner will be announced Wednesday, June 6th in New York City. Here are details for the day’s event

The Buckminster Fuller Institute (BFI) will announce and celebrate the winning design of the 2012 Buckminster Fuller Challenge in an all-day event on June 6, 2012 hosted by the Cooper Union Institute for Sustainable Design.

The day will include presentations by two of this year’s finalists, a roundtable discussion with challenge jurors, pioneers in the fields of ecological art and design, urban planning and living architecture, a Keynote talk by renowned biologist John Todd, followed by the announcement of the winning solution, and a rooftop reception.

This event will be an opportunity to hear about leading edge design solutions from around the globe. Join us to learn about, discuss and meet leading innovators in the worlds of renewable lighting technology, sustainable architecture, innovative marine management, responsible energy practice and much more.

The Buckminster Fuller Challenge (now in its fifth year) celebrates innovation and creativity that takes a whole-systems approach to design. The Cooper Union Institute for Sustainable Design shares this approach and places whole-systems thinking at the core of its philosophy.

This event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 1:30 PM.
