What's a stone ship? A series of monolith rocks arranged in a circular pattern used to mark a burial, customarily found in Germanic and Scandinavian countries about 5,000 years ago. This stone monument is located in Southern Sweden, and is known as "Ales Stenar." I love the simple pattern and use of natural materials, and of course, the large sense of scale. This photo is inspiring to me, showing art and ritual can be found in all locations, cultures and times.
