Taking inspiration from a traditional Japanese tea house, American architect David Jameson's music recital room in Washington, D.C. is a brilliant balance between indoor and outdoor space. Literally suspended in air, the structure he created of glass, bronze and wood is an ideal place to enjoy music or relax in contemplation. Illuminated by lights from below, it is even more striking at night when it takes on the feel of a lantern dangling lightly above the ground.
