Is there a non-toxic coating for raised vegetable beds?

I would like to use re-claimed wood to create raised vegetable beds but would like to make sure they don't leach any chemicals into my food source. I have heard that large water tanks are sometimes coated with asphalt emulsion and that it could be one possible solution.

The amount of preservative that would leach from your reclaimed wood is minimal.

Since the wood has been previously exposed to the elements, most of the leaching would have occurred.
