The13th annual Renewable Energy and Distributed Generation International Exhibition and Conference, called the SolarExpo by GreenBuilding was held in May in Verona.

On May 9-11, 2012 52,500 professional visitors gathered in fair Verona. But unlike Shakespeare the love affair they were there to participate in, is the one between designers and the environment.

This lighthearted introduction should not detract from the amazing event. It was the 13th annual Renewable Energy and Distributed Generation International Exhibition and Conference, called the SolarExpo by GreenBuilding.

The SolarExpo consisted of:

  • 1,230 exhibitors
  • 480 speakers
  • 11 exhibit halls
  • 6000 participants
  • 120,000 square meter exhibit area
  • 300 registered journalists

It also consisted of 60 conferences and seminars that covered three main topics of renewable energies, energy efficiency and sustainable architecture.

SoloPower's newest technology

One company that participated in the expo was SoloPower from San Jose, California. It is manufacturing company that previewed its newest technology of high efficiency, lightweight and flexible thin-film solar cells and modules.

Other special events that took place consisted of:

  • E: Move
  • Polygen
  • GreenDoc

SOLARCH offers innovative architectural solutions for integrated Photovoltaics (PV). E: Move encourages interaction among the operators in the renewable sector and in electric mobility, in order to offer a wide range of technologies connected to sustainable mobility. Polygen is dedicated to co-generation and tri-generation for high efficiency and low environmental impact technologies for electric and thermal generation and cooling. GreenDoc is a program launched by SolarExpo and GreenBuilding 2012 as a high-level training in green economy.

Upcoming solar conferences will be held in Orlando, Florida September 10-13 and is the Solar Power International 12 and then the next upcoming SolarExpo will be held in Milan for 2013.

There is no tragic ending to this story, only a conference that continues to benefit design professions and encourages economic sustainability for all future generations.
