My home was built in 1985 and has a large crawlspace below. It is on basically a basalt slab due to the geology of the area. The only thing down there is a plastic blanket covering the rock. The foundation walls are covered with a rigid foam insulation about 2 inches thick. Should I add insulation between the floor joists? If so, what would be the best to use. Thanks!

Yes! Adding insulation to any part of your home is a good thing. I am assuming your crawlspace is unvented, for which I recommend a tight fitting application of R25...
