Industries and businesses that are continuously improving the way buildings are designed are mandatory in a progressive field such as architecture. Cutting edge innovative ideas are a daily necessity.

Color Rendering Index

One industry that is incorporated into every design, whether a school, a hotel, a home, a bank, a church or a hotdog stand is being designed, is lighting. From Thomas Edison’s patent of phosphors being produced from an x-ray lamp producing light in 1896 to the present, 2011, where LED lights are taking over the industry.

A company that is setting the bar high with advances in lighting technology is Intematix with their headquarters in Fremont, CA. They have demonstrated their technological advances with their ChromaLit Collection and now this month they are releasing their new Color Rendering Index (CRI) for LED lights.

CRI is a light quality measurement grading on how well a light source renders color on a scale of 1 to 100 with sunlight equaling 100.

Intematix’s phosphor blend is creating “nearly perfect” color range which was previously unreached in LED development. It is reaching a 98 to 99 on the CRI with a blend of three of the company’s patented phosphor products.

“Reaching 98 CRI is huge – it means that by adding Intematix phosphor, an LED package can render true color,” said Dr. Yiqun Li, chief technology officer and executive vice president at Intematix. “That’s the efficiency of Silicon Valley with the light quality demanded by the finest New York City gallery, Milan boutique or Hong Kong hotel. This benchmark gives our customers the ability to create the highest quality lighting designs and fixtures.”
