By Amy Hoak of Marketwatch Some home builders may be seeing red on their balance sheets but many were thinking green on Thursday at the annual International Builders' Show in Orlando. The show's "Green Day" featured the launch of the National Association of Home Builders' green building program, a way to certify homes as being environmentally friendly. Numerous presentations also are being made on the topic, and many exhibitors throughout the massive show floor are carrying out the theme in the countless green products they're offering. But the message hasn't only been about the virtues of sustainable and energy-efficient housing. Just as much, it has been about how green building can help builders sustain their own businesses and distinguish new homes from existing ones in a slow market. Read the entire article.
