Suggestion re: advert posts

Posted by Jesse Leary at April 05. 2005

Today I noticed a couple of ads posted in the forums (one in Dwell labs for a fireplace, one in Furniture and Fixtures for an auction). It's not clear to me how these types of postings are viewed by LiveModern or the community. They seem to occupy some middle ground between non-commercial posts and Spam. It might be helpful to set up a classifieds section, although that might invite real Spam. (I'm not interested in selling anything, just in keeping the forums uncluttered without shutting out info that might be of real value to the readers. Somebody might want to buy that fireplace...)

Both of the authors actually contact me before posting, and I let them
post in this way until we do have a want ad function. Sometime this
year. I think the problem is not really a problem until we get a lot of
people posting without first checking our terms of use or with the
forum moderators. Once we cross that bridge, we'll elevate the priority
of adding a want ad option.
