I wanted to share with you the results of our recent appeal to Finally Fix the Forums!
We had set a 10-day goal of raising pledges from the LiveModern community of $1,000 toward our overall goal of $2,500. To date, and thanks to the generosity of many of you, we have raised $1,820!
We’re well on our way to reaching our overall goal of $2,500. If you have pledged, THANK YOU! If you have not yet made your pledge, please do in the next 3 days so that we can start coding in March.
I'm asking 35 LiveModern forum users to pledge $20 each in the next 3 days. We need to get pledges totaling at least $700 to complete our pledge drive. Only when all $2,500 is pledged will anyone's pledge will be automatically converted into an actual contribution. But don't think that you don't need to pledge first. Pledge now, and accelerate the process of fixing the forums.
If you've posted more than a few messages in the LiveModern forums, you really should pledge your support to this campaign. Even if you've never posted, you'll notice the new forum software is much faster. $20 is a small price to pay to make sure the conversation about modernist housing products and services thrives on the net. Of course, if you read or post a lot, you can pledge more than your fair share!
Please make your pledge in the next 3 days, and we’ll finally fix the forums!

P.S. Your pledge today will be appropriately acknowledged at the end of the campaign.
OK, I haven't been here in a long while. The site is still really slow, so was intrigued by the fund raiser.
I do have to ask a few questions, though. ;o)
1) Can we contribute less than $20? I'd like to help. $20 is a bit steep.
2) Is Dwell contributing anything to the cause?
3) Has a non-Plone discussion board been considered? There are all sorts of great, fast, free forums out there.
We made it, and then some!
There are a few members that post a lot at LiveModern that are still considering making a pledge, but to date we have pledges totalling $2780 from 70 contributors.
Thanks so much to all who have pledged. Your pledge will appear on your credit card shortly after this weekend (the official end of the pledge drive).

Hmm, as a new user to the site, I'm in a similar position as the poster Darrel was. I'm trying to like the site, and the content is great and the people are great. However, I can't often log in, getting the cookies not enabled error. I actually do have cookies enabled, and am not behind a firewall and every other forum that I visit cheerfully automatically logs me in. I often can't manually log in at this site, or I'll be able to log-in in one section, but when I switch to another forum it bumps me out. It's REALLY frustrating. If I can't log in I can't post questions, or offer suggestions to people. I'm not going to spend 15 minutes trying to log in just to add a bit to a conversation. 15 minutes is about the average time that it's taken me to be able to log in, and I still haven't found a pattern to what happens that I finally get logged in. Oh yeah, and the site times out on me about 1 out of 3 page loads.

Okay, that's my b*tching, I'll go back and lurk now!
