Trailing periods on web addresses

Posted by David Iversen at November 08. 2005

I just noticed through my post on the North Carolina forum (topic: Tonic Design @ Third Place) that if you place a trailing period at the end of the web address this system includes that period as part of the address. It should not do this. Trailing periods should be ignored. True, the period should not be there in the first place, but if you did like I ddid and placed the address at the end of sentence then the period is accidentally included in the address.

Yes, some software is not as smart as its users. I've noticed that most
email clients I use make the same mistake. I've learned to make the
seperation, automatically.
