Hi All.
I've checked the faq and help menus. Some quick one's here:
1. I seem to log in, get confirmation that I am logged in, then click on a Forum, then it asks me to log in again. Is there a way to prevent this?
2. When posting, hitting return seems to get me three spaces down instead of just getting me to the next line. Same question as above.
3. I seem to remember a way to get emailed when there was a response to a post you were interested in following. Is this feature still available?
4. Is there a way to "Flag" or otherwise control the posts that you would like to follow within the UI on the web? Preferably a method that spans the various Forums as I don't see myself being able to root through each Forum that I might be interested in.
5. Is there a way for me to optimize the speed of the loading of pages.
6. I assume I cannot view threads in a conventional Newsgroup Type reader such as Thunderbird or Outlook.
7. Is there any way/interest in getting a Forum for Architects? Does anyone know of a source on the web for technically oriented questions that Architects would be interested in? I'm thinking International Building Code questions, International Energy Code Questions, rainscreen, vapor migration, insulation, mechanical systems recommendations, galvanic action, digital fabrication issues etc, etc.
Thanks,
Jonathan

This should not happen. Some people have complained that when they access the home page, it says they are not logged in (shows up with login and join links) even when they are. But the other pages (forums, blogs, news, events etc.) seem to work correctly.

Can you tell us what platform and browser you are using? I will check the logs to get a clue on what is happening.
Have not seen this. I find that the line height is rather large but don't think there is a way to adjust it. However I get only 1 line per carriage return.
2. When posting, hitting return seems to get me three spaces down instead of just getting me to the next line. Same question as above.
People are asking for this and it is on our TODO list.
3. I seem to remember a way to get emailed when there was a response to a post you were interested in following. Is this feature still available?
Aaah... a "watch this thread" feature. I don't think anyone has asked for it yet, but we will consider doing this along with 3 above.
4. Is there a way to "Flag" or otherwise control the posts that you would like to follow within the UI on the web? Preferably a method that spans the various Forums as I don't see myself being able to root through each Forum that I might be interested in.
I find that it is quite fast at times and somewhat sluggish at others. We are planning on moving to more powerful hardware over the next few weeks.
5. Is there a way for me to optimize the speed of the loading of pages.
You can use the RSS feed to monitor the "recent changes" to the site.
6. I assume I cannot view threads in a conventional Newsgroup Type reader such as Thunderbird or Outlook.
But no, no threaded browsing.
If you volunteer to host it

, we can definitely have a forum for this. Please await Marshall's return from vacation and we can discuss this more.Universal Joint Design Associates

I think we should waitt until the forum software is fixed first. ;o)
As for the spacing issue, hit SHIFT-RETURN if you just want a line break (one line)
As for other forums, while not specifically for architects, Fine Homebuilding's Breaktime forum is very active and full of several architects (and lots of contractors):
Hi MasterW.
Regarding #7:"7. Is there any way/interest in getting a Forum for Architects? Does
anyone know of a source on the web for technically oriented questions
that Architects would be interested in? I'm thinking International
Building Code questions, International Energy Code Questions,
rainscreen, vapor migration, insulation, mechanical systems
recommendations, galvanic action, digital fabrication issues etc, etc."
I think I actually would be willing to host this. Feel free to forward to Marshall when he gets a minute.
Thanks for the other information. I'm using Mozilla and XP Pro.
Sincerely,
Jonathan

It'd be interested in hearing from other architects that visit LiveModern whether or not an "Architects for Architects" forum would be a useful addition.I'm as big a fan of LiveModern as they come, but I turn to other web sites for that kind of community. CORA at http://coragroups.org/forum/ for professional support from other residential designers, and Push Pull Bar at http://www.pushpullbar.com/ for design and an international outlook. I don't think I would be jumping on the bandwagon for that here.
