Website Progress

As LiveModern continues to grow, we're in the process of making another server upgrade. It will likely take all summer, if not longer, but the end result will be some new functionality and increased performance. 

And we're listening to you: the site upgrades will be guided by those of you that responded to the last poll:

• Syndication, member searching, member profile, content and author ratings, and blog aggregation improvements have already been implemented;
• A member-generated Resource Directory has been designed, and will be developed this year; and
• Geo-coding of content will be built into all content types (and you can geo-code yourself simply by entering your location in your personal preferences.

We'll focus on other improvements as these are completed. All along, we will make the server faster, especially for those of you that log in to add content to the site.

Of course, these kinds of improvements will place even more demand on our server's software and hardware, so both will be upgrade this summer.

To do that, we'll need to increase advertising revenues, and no doubt you've seen some additions of ad copy on the site. We're playing around with Google ad placement to optimize results. We'll also probably introduce a new advertising partner this week for "in-text" ads. Please note that we are trying to minimize the obtrusiveness of the ads on our site while maximizing revenues. If you don't like the ads, simply ignore them as the site would not be possible without them.
