Realtors with good Mod Knowledge ??

Posted by Dennis Caldwell at July 02. 2005

Hi,
My life partner and I are having to relocate to the DC area for a new company opportunity and looking for a Realtor with good Mod Home knowledge of the expansive area.

If you are a realtor or know of homes on the market - or soon to be...
I consult so I'll be all over with the office base in Tysons Corner.
We've lived in Manhattan for several years so really don't care to live in the city and would like a single family home... and now moving from a 50's Mod in Orlando, FL....(willing to commute 30-45 minutes or so to Tysons Corner).
Mid-Centry would be great, yet will consider any period with good design.
We'd love move-in condition, yet very open to needing some fixin' up opportunities.
For us, it is really the bones of clean simple lines that is most important... no offense.. yet neither of us like the Cap Cod or Colonial Style (Yes.. we know.. we are moving to Colonial Kingdom). We hope to not have to do that temporarily. :)

Any Realtor direction or gems you know of would be very appreciated.

Have a super July 4th weekend gang !!!

Dennis.

Theres Kellermann (www.carderock.net)posted elswhere on this forum. Most of her stuff is in Bethesda, which would put you 30-45 minutes from Tysons back when I lived in the dc area. Not sure now. Good luck.

Theres specializes in Carderock Springs, where I just moved, in upper Bethesda.

Carderock is just off the beltway and close to the river, so an easy commute to Tysons. The development was built in the early to mid 60s. The lots are generally fairly large (1/3 to 1/2 acre) and wooded. There is a very nice pool and tennis club, and membership is automatic if you buy into the neighborhood. Theres's website shows the various models of homes; you have to click on Carderock then roll your mouse over History and then Homes of Carderock. Current prices seem to be from hi-700s for the smaller Hillcrest in OK (well maintained but not updated) condition to ~1MM for one of the bigger models with additions, renovations, etc.

Let me put in a plug for my realtor, Pyllis Alexander, at http://realestatestars.com/
Phyllis helped us find the house we bought, which we never would have gotten if she hadn't found out about it before it went on the market (we were out of town the weekend it went on). She also sold the house we were moving from in the District. She's experienced, incredibly knowledgable, and tapped in to everything going on in the DC area market. And she's very energetic and driven to help her clients.

Good luck!

Hollin Hills, as a child my parents would say--
where all the liberals live
It is a great neighborhood, with wooded lots, and homes with big windows.
Very Mod- you will love it. I am not sure that it is an easy commute to Tysons corner.
good luck!

In 6 months I will be looking for a realtor as well who really understands the kind of home I am looking for. Good luck to you and your partner with your search and keep us updated on the progress finding your new home.

PS I can help with your financing ;) ..lol
