DC building codes

Posted by Jesse Cortes at December 22. 2005

Is anyone familiar with DC's codes, and is there an easy way to access them online? I'm doing some extensive renovation to a small rowhouse I recently bought, including complete renovation of the basement, so I have a myriad questions about having a non-conventional approach and still be code compliant. One particular question: does DC's code require thermally broken windows, or are standard double-glaze sufficient?

Thanks for any enlightenment.

I think you can find them on the DC govt website. But, your best bet is to talk to folks in the code/permits office. You'll need to deal with them anyway if you're getting permits. I'd just call and keep asking your questions until you get forwarded to someone who can give you answers.
