Looking for Modernist Architect to Consult with on Small Project
I'm renovating my condo and trying to do as much of the work as possible myself--both planning and demolition\construction. It's a very typical old-fashioned DC condo built around 1900--lots of small rooms, walls that limit natural light, wood floors, cheaply renovated bathroom, etc. I'm trying to be as modern as possible in the renovation, using lots of ideas from LiveModern, Dwell, etc.
Are there good modernist architects out there who I could hire to consult with on the planning? I'm not looking for somebody who would do all of the planning, contracting, etc, but rather somebody to share my plans with, suggest how to improve on them, provide ideas on innovative modern materials,. etc. I'm interested in being as experimental as possible.
Re: Looking for Modernist Architect to Consult with on Small Project
I am not too far from DC and I'd be happy to try to help you. I'm sure you could find a middle ground between consulting with somebody and throwing questions out on livemodern looking for resources.
Have you contacted your Condo association yet to find out if there are any contraints you need to be aware of? They should also have base plans - scale drawings of your unit - as I am quite sure it was not a condo when it was built in 1900.
