Modern Renovation in Arlington

Posted by Mike Malone at July 31. 2006

I wanted to let folks know about a modern renovation that is for sale in North Arlington.

A few years ago, we really struck out when looking for a contemporary single-family home in Northern Virginia. Instead, we decided to buy a colonial in a great neighborhood and renovate in in a more modern style.

We worked with ColePrevost, an architecture firm located in DC, to take out walls and open up the original house. As a result, the main floor feels like a loft but you get the bonus of a yard and private bedrooms on the upper level. We also included a new master bath and walk-in closet on the upper level that makes the master suite very luxurious. The exterior is clad in Parklex, a european rain shield, that is a type of hardwood fused to a synthetic material on the back side. It is pretty striking and it takes someone who appreciates modern to get it.

The renovation was finished in early 2005 but a job offer took us from the DC-area. If you're interested, here's a link to our realtors' listing: http://www.coldwellbanker.com/servlet/PropertyListing?action=detailComColdwellbankerDataProperty_id=9686413page=property . Please e-mail me or conact our agent if you're interested in touring it.

Thanks!
