Modernism in HUNT COUNTRY?

Posted by mark meyer at June 28. 2005

Greetings-- Moved here from Phoenix. I left one of the coolest dwtn apts in the city.

Definately in search of new modernism apartment here.

I work in Middleburg but would be willing to commute to the right space.

Any direction would be appreciated. My furniture (and I) are starting to get nervous piled in our current temporary roomate situation.

There must be a modernism apartment, VIRGINIA?

All best, Mark

welcome to the east coast mark,

quick reply here, start by checking out the work of the architect charles goodman, he was a prolific builder in the 50's and his stuff is amazing. the best known project is hollin hills, just south of alexandria, a community of single family homes. def'n. worth a drive-by.

he completed a large project out in fairfax and I believe that it's a mix of co-op and apartments - where ever there are co-ops there are rentals. I can't remember the name of the project, but it was really nice and pretty big.

if something more concrete pops into my head I'll let you know. there is great mid-century modernism in the region for sure.

best
