Thick Walls, Wood Slats, & Hand Rubbed Concrete add visual power to a new restaurant interior in central Virginia. The client, from El Salvador requested a modern interior to compliment his South American / TexMex fusion menu. In our first meeting, he showed up with a book containing some of Luis Barragan's work. It's not often that a client shows up with such inspiration. On a very limited budget, we explored the elemental expression of simple and inexpensive materials and imbued a sense of the cool and the quiet of his native regional vernacular in the expression of the space.
