The house was originally a 1950's Colonial Revival. It sits on 25 wooded acres of rolling hills in the Virginia piedmont near Petersburg. The current owner, a graphic designer with an interest in contemporary architecture; wanted to create a southern vernacular farm house with a decidedly modern addition containing living space, a master bathroom, and a large outdoor deck. Phase one renovated the extant house including the master bedroom, kitchen, sun room, and attic. Phase two will integrate the living space, outdoor deck and master bathroom in a new contemporary ensemble complimentary to the "farm house". The glazed living space and large teak deck will provide panoramic views across the property.
