GC for a sustainable remodel

Posted by hd at November 22. 2004

does anyone in vancouver know a general contractor experienced or interested in sustainable/affordable/green remodels? how did you enjoy your experience with them, did you find their fee reasonable, what was the nature of your remodel etc.

I hope traffic picks up on this forum oneday.

The current issue of Wester Living magazine has a home reno done with sustainability in mind. I was just flipping thru it while waiting to meet someone for dinner, so I didn't buy a copy. If I recall, it said the owner was an interior designer who does a lot of work with Peter Busby. Might give you some ideas.

thanks kirk. i hope it picks up too. i tell everyone about it, bcit people, friends in the leed business, etc. maybe sending a note to the arch inst of bc, to kwantlen, etc. would help. there can't be just two modernists in town!

busby may be beyond our reach - affordability is the keyword for us - but thanks for that. i'll check wl at any rate, they may have sources for some of the work.

You could try these guys. I havn't had experience with the construction side but they were a pleasure to deal with during the design of our upcoming home.

Hello,

Pulling on an old thread but seeing as it is near 2 years later, I figure there may be more to be heard on this question?

I was was happily surprised to find this site a few months ago and I've been prowling since. I'm trying to decide on what to live in etc. I'm very close to securing a piece of land and am researching options on the next steps.

I'd like to contact some local contractors/designers to further my research. So if there are any in the GVRD that anyone has had experience with or heard of, then I'd love to find out who they are!

Any info would be gladly appreciated!

I keep forgetting to visit this place, but there's a new Sustainable Building Centre on Granville Island.
