St. Louis Design

Posted by Brian Everett at September 14. 2006

I'm a product designer currently working for a company in Springfield, IL but I'm looking to relocate to St. Louis and was looking for any help I could get. Basically I'm wondering if anyone knows of some good design firms in the area that I could look into. I'm looking for anything really, but in the furniture or home accessory business would be wonderful.

Thanks for your help!

Well I'm not sure I am going to be much help. There is a furniture manufacturer in St. Louis but I've forgotten their name. I used to work for one of the country’s largest high-end custom millwork companies but they are out of business.
I’ve been in the Kitchen bath end of things for 16 years now. The Kitchen and Bath business is good in St. Louis. Perhaps kitchen design would work for you.
You may know this as your not to far away but St. Louis does not appreciate modern design or design trends. By the time any trend or new style finally hits St. Louis its dead everywhere else. (We still get people asking for “French Country” style kitchens, which were popular 15 years ago). 95 percent of the work is “traditional” or “old world”.
Most architects that are comfortable designing modern works have to do the old world mega mansions to pay the bills.
Let me know if you need anything else and I’ll ask at work next week if any one knows the name of the furniture company.
Mike
