Upstate Modernists?

Posted by Scott Baumgarner at September 24. 2006

Hi. I'm a builder located in the Upstate area and interested in modern architecture. I just wondered if there were any like minded individuals in my area. If you know of any modernist projects or architectural interests around, please drop me a line.

Hi! I'm from Columbia, but I'm sure there are at least a few Clemson grads up there digging modern. Have you built much modern stuff? Would love to see some eye candy. And feel free to post your information in the Architects Builders Doing Modern South Carolina discussion.

Hello Brian. I've completed quite a few traditional residential projects in the area but haven't yet had the chance to work on a modern home. I'm very interested in modern and have been hoping to do some non traditional projects in the future. Although, my immediate area (Seneca, Lake Keowee) is far from being architecturally progressive. I've been hoping to meet some like minded clients. I was interested and curios about your modern development project you've mentioned in other threads. Please let me know if you've began any construction. We travel through there often and would like to visit any modern homes when available. Thanks...Scott

If I'm not mistaken, when they unveiled their plans for the Clemson achitecture school here in Charleston, all the Clemson modernists were promptly killed and eaten.

I have a plot in Spartanburg that I am looking to build a 2500 to 3000 sqft modern home.  The lot size 11000 sqft.  I am looking for a builder to work with.  Hit me back in the forum or reply via email to will@shadeofsoul.com.

Thanks,

Will
