For those of you interested, Tadao Ando is going to be lecturing at Kane Hall on campus 630 pm on saturday. Ando is one of the world's premiere architects primarily because of his elemental simplicity and virtuosity in concrete and light. He won the Pritzker Prize a few years back, and I heard last year gossip that he was working on a building in the Puget Sound area.
Unfortunately, tickets to the show were snapped up, but they are doing a live video feed for the overflow. The line for entrance will begin forming at 530 on the south side of the building.
Matt
Thanks for posting this Matt, I ended up getting a cheap and less crowded seat in the video feed room. Also made it to last nights Murcutt/Kundig/Jarmund round table which was a good time.
On another note does the Seattle mod group still meet? Are you still helping Jordan/others design a house?
I ended missing both of those events due to work--how was it?
The SeaMod group hasn't gotten together since the Library tour. If more people are interested I would love to set another one up at a coffee shop.
Although nothing really panned out there, we are interviewing for a couple mixed use modern projects in the downtown Fremont and are working on a little modern cabin--I'll try to post some images from the design. It should be a great (and affordable--under 200K) project.

The Ando lecture was just him ( interpreter) going over some of his works, and him explaining how he reached certain design conclusions, etc.
Any details on what he's working on around here?
The Murcutt/Jarmond/Kundig round table was awesome imo. The chairs of the UW architecture program posed 5 questions to the panel ( general q's pertaining to techtonics, sustainability, vernacular, etc.) then showed some of their respective works and let them explain their take on the question and how it pertained to their specific work.
It was cool to see Murcutt rant about, well everything really. He has very strong views and can back them all up, and it was a treat to get a view of his world.
