The Phinney Neighborhood Association is having their annual home fair, and this year's theme is Simple Green Design. There will be lots of architects, designers, and contractors on hand to talk to about whatever project you have in mind. I have been to a couple and it is a good way to met local professionals. This is your opportunity to gather information about home design, remodeling, sustainable building practices, reused/recycled materials, landscaping, building codes and finance. Exhibitors will include general and specialty contractors, interior design, re-roofing, flooring, landscaping, salvaged building materials and more.

Members of the Northwest EcoBuilding Guild will also be on hand to share ways you may incorporate green building practices into your home project. Gardening experts, such as Seattle Tilth and Master Gardeners, and organizations such as FEMA, Seattle Project Impact and Seattle's Department of Planning and Development will also be on hand with resources and advice.

Join us to learn how you can integrate simple green design into your home improvement projects. Our experts will highlight low maintenance, healthful and durable design options with low operational costs for the home and garden. Topics include finance options for green projects, salvage and recycling, energy and water efficient fixtures, well-ventilated, durable and tight buildings; as well as installation of low or no emission finishes and native and drought tolerant plantings.
