where can I get plans of my house?

I just bought a house in kirkland , it was built 1977. I'm trying to get the plans for the house so I can start planning out my remodel.

Check with the city. They may have some information--I know Seattle, for example, archives all permit sets and you can order copies. Whether they did back in the 70s, though, I am not sure.
