Contractors recomendations

Posted by jim golden at September 25. 2005

hey all pdx'er's

I'm meeting w/ my architect this week to check out my plans for a
second story remodel. it's actually not a remodel, but maybe a retrofit?
The second story is currently floor thru, so we'll be building out walls and the like.
I should have the plans in my hand this week, if not first wk of cotober.

Anyhow, looking for contractors to give bids on the work and besides craigslist, dont really know where to look.

I do have some small jobs, trim work, door installations that I'm gonna get a guy
from craigslist to do for me, but I need an experienced big job type to get the upstairs done.

We're expected our second kid in feb., so I'm hoping to push a bunch of this trhu by then, think I'm nuts?

You could try Brian Hurst of Eclipse Contracting. He's done some small stuff for me but he does it all!

jim, did you find anyone? We have a project too (first story remodel, within footprint) and I'd love to hear how yours went.

yeah we found a guy, did nice work, but I wouldn't rec. him to anyone else. he
doesn't really have a lot of experience as we learned as the project moved on.

that was phase one. phase two is in permitting right now but we still dont have a contractor. we're adding some dormers a bathroom and the like and I dont wanna use this guy again. so back to the drawing board.
