Walter and Ruby Behlen House (pics)

Hi, I'm so glad to have found a community of people interested in modern architecture in Nebraska! I wanted to share a house that might be of interest to people. It is located in Columbus, NE, and it was built by my grandparents in 1958. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Here is a picture:

My family is interested in giving the house away in order for it to become a public historic site. The gift was actually accepted by the State Historical Society nearly two years ago to be turned into a venue dedicated to 20th-century innovation in Nebraska, but has since been tangled up in red tape. It is so disappointing to see good intentions be unravelled by bureaucracy. I would love to hear any feedback: do people see a benefit to preserving modern architecture...does anyone have any ideas as to how to raise awareness of this gift...thanks very much in advance!
