Permaculture and Prefab

Posted by Corey O'Brien at August 02. 2005

I would like to become involved in development of modern prefab communities integrating permaculture design. Right now these goals are a ways off, but I am looking for some direction on what path I should persue. I am unsure if I need to go back to school for urban planning, landscape architecture or just permaculture design. Or if it would be possible to get a position with my current education (trained in botany, agronomy, and horticulture). I would like to stay on the landscaping/permaculture side of things, but would also like to be involved in the planning of these communities. I've contacted the folks at M:OME (http://www.mome.org/) because they are already doing what I would like to become involved with. Does anyone know of other firms/groups/etc that may be able to help me out? Or if anyone knows of communities like this, I'm doing a lot of research on eco-villages, so any info you have on them would help out as well.

thanks all,
Corey
