I'm looking at the possibility of selling up here in Los Angeles and relocating myself and my young family to North Carolina,I hear Chapel Hill is agreat place.I'm planning to visit but for now I'd be intrested to hear from anyone who has made this move or can offer any advice.I have a great modern home which I'd hate to leave so finding a modern home in NC would be big help although I know there's not many. Also if anyone has knowledge of any modern home developments in NC that would be helpful.Thanks.
You can build a modern home in Orange or Chatham County if you want to be near Chapel Hill or Durham. There are some 50s and 60s modern homes in Chapel Hill, very pricey (from my point of view, maybe not for you coming from California) I'd seriously look at Durham too, it is going to be booming in a few years, but is already a fun place to be. Real Estate in Durham is a lot less than Chapel Hill and its only 7 miles away.
Let me know if you need help designing a home in the area. The firm I work for is in Chapel Hill.

Thanks,I'm actually looking into building so I'll keep your website handy.I'm going to be arriving in Chapel Hill on Thursday so I'll be sure to look into Durham, somebody else had mentioned that to me.Our plans are to buy something cheap for now then have money spare to invest, possibly in building, while we get settled.
Where in Chapel Hill is your office?
Our office is at 431 W. Franklin St. Were in a complex called the Courtyard and we are on the second floor in a building behind Penang restaraunt. There's a map on our website.
The caveat with Durham is you have to be careful with the neighborhood---a hard thing to learn about in one weekend. The best way I found to deal with this is just to drive around and explore. Durham is kind of funny in that you can have a street with some nice, renovated, taken-care of houses 1/4 block away from a very street with very run-down houses. Hope that doesn't scare you away though. Be sure to check out the American Tobacco complex and Brightleaf Square.
I forgot to mention Carrboro. Right beside and touching Chapel Hill. It's an interesting place too.

Does your firm design modern homes, or are you personally interested in designing them? I am interested in building modern in the huntersville/charlotte area and of course finding architects or builders who build modern is almost impossible. Thinking about building a few investment properties.

for you. We have a website that shows a little of our modern
