MCM Home in Charlotte

Just want to put this out there so that (HOPEFULLY) someone who values MCM will get their hands on it. MLS 658398 6530 Newhall Rd Charlotte NC 28270 Look for it on Allen Tate's site. www.allentate.com Someone with traditional taste in furnishings and finishes has been living in the house. It needs to be brought back to its roots!

The house was listed with Bissell Hayes- not Allen Tate. It sold fairly quickly. Did you go inside?

It retained much of the original architecture. For some reason the original doors had been removed and cheap new ones put in...oh well.

You missed the fabulous house on  419 Lansdowne Rd (MLS #674731) that retained all it's original charm!  Owner was the architect that designed it...super light fixtures! original vinyl floor in perfect condiiton, glass partition entry, super mod glass porch and open floor plan with walk around fireplace. Furnished with all period 60's furniture from Saarinen, Herman Miller and an authentic Eames recliner! The poor agent did not know what she had and thought it was dated!! Underpriced it by 10% and stated that it needed updating in the MLS remarks. Sold in 12 hours!

The broker said it sold to a couple that didn't want to change a thing. That is the good news!

I was terrified a rennovator was going to buy it and put in a Tuscan kitchen. or pop the top. The best way to keep these homes intact- is to buy one. I am a realtor in charlotte that is devoted to Mid Century Modern and contemporary homes. check me out @ ModernCharlotte.com and email anytime.

Yeah.  I know it wasn't offered by A.T.  I just use the A.T. site as my mainstay for looking up houses and referrals to others.  I had full plans of going inside, but I couldn't make it the day of the open house.  Our friends went in and told us about it.  Some other friends of ours almost bought it but were concerned about the steep yard.

Yes.  419 Lansdowne is a definite gem!  I totally could not believe how fast it sold.  I'm really glad to hear about the new owners.  I was especially concerned too because of that reno that is going on right next door to 419--even though the reno house is traditional.

Nice site, by the way.  If only we could get people to stop tearing down beautiful MCM homes in Charlotte!
