How do these work if your code requires 15 min fire rating? Are any of these alternative products (plywood and laminate flooring) tested and rated for this? I like the rectangular grid idea and the tin idea posted elsewhere.

I believe you can put a layer of drywall behind whatever your surface material is and achieve the required fire rating that way.
