Gutter/Drainage Dilemma

Posted by Sara R. Sage at March 24. 2006

Hello,

I am currently thinking about installing rain gutters on my home but I do not want them to be unsightly. I am interested in a very simple galvanized steel box type with a chain but I have only found a few leads for suppliers and I am not satisfied with what I've found so far. If anyone has information at hand I would much appreciate it.

Thanks!

Rheinzink makes a nice half-round gutter and down-pipe system.

I've used it on a few modern homes. It installs easily and works well.
good luck!

Sara,

Contact your local sheet metal shop, especially if you want simple box gutters. They can make them to your design, and it is relatively inexpensive. You can get them made out of paint-grip (sort of zinc-like look) galvalum, or painted steel. It's really not a problem and isn't expensive at all. You'll be surprised.

Wow, thanks for the tips! Mark, I can easily find a sheet metal shop close by; there are several indsutrial areas near us. I will look into that on Monday. I am inclined to think that a boxier gutter will look better on our home.

I will need to look into the cost and availablilty of Rhienzink. The gutters are very nice and simple and my husband will be interested in a back-up if the rain gutter and chain doesn't convince him.

Whatever I decide or do, I hope I can remember to post here again on this thread to show the result.

Sara
