Does Home Depot sell hardware for cabinet pulls? Something that one would weld or glue onto the homemade pull?

If you're making a wooden pull or knob you would look for a threaded insert to either screw or press(hammer) into a larger hole drilled in the wood. If it is a ceramic knob you could glue the same insert into an oversized hole with silicone or hot melt polyurethane.

If you've made a metal pull or handle your best bet is to buy a tap and drill bit set. #8-32 is the standard for US hardware, 3mm for European. Drill the hole with the supplied drill bit in the set and cut the threads with the tap. Depot doesn't seem to sell the correct size tap handle for smaller taps, so use a CORDLESS drill set at the lowest speed. Turn the tap in a small ammount, back it out, and repeat. Use some oil as lubricant. This should work for either thin walled hollow pieces or solid cast metal items. Go slow.

If you've fashioned a piece that needs to be held away from the door surface you can an aluminum spacer or cut a section of tubing as a standoff. Depot might have such a thing or you can try an Ace Hardware with all the little plastic drawers.

Good Luck
