NAP board?

Posted by Diego Socolinsky at August 13. 2006

The latest issue of Dwell features an article on the Xeros house, in Phoenix, AZ. A material called NAP board is used throughout the house for flooring, walls and some built-in furniture (additional pictures can be found at http://www.europaconcorsi.com/db/pub/print.php?id=10221). A little searching revealed that the material is also known as Euro Board or Latvian plywood, but I couldn't find any details. Does anyone know what this material is? Is it just stained plywood? Who is the manufacturer?

Thanks for any pointers.

My guess is that it is a product similar to RIGAFORM.

It is a basic "Baltic" birch type plywood, bonded with waterproof phenol resin adhesives and overlaid with phenol film. It was developed to be used in concrete forwork applications, but can also be used for flooring, cabinets, and interior applications.

Latvijas Finieris is a manufacturer that I know of.
