Frasier apartment doors

Posted by Valentin Tarin at June 01. 2006

Hi Guys,

I just registered but been coming to this site for several months.

I'm building a new house and would like to use interior doors similar to the ones that appear in the tv series Frasier, the entry door to his apartment. Do you know who makes a similar door? Or does it have to be built by a Carpenter? Anyone have a picture of it? I searched the web but had no success.

Thanks... Valentin

Valentin-

Welcome to the site. I too am a lurker and a new member. Usually I feel my spectator status benefits the forum more than my ramblings...so I continue to spectate. But this...I just may be able to help.

Just last month I checked out a newly published book at my library. It was a fun read...well it was mainly a pictorial tour through...TV sets! For example, there was a photo of a living room...and you could cover the title and try to figure out what it was from. Finally it would hit you that it was the 1970's again and you were in the All in the Family living room...you could hear Archie calling Meathead. Anyway, it would review what the room contents. And if they were available where to get them. The designer and architect.

I realize my memory could be fuzzy, but I do believe they had Frasiers living room in the book. My thoughts are focused on the wall art near the fireplace, it was two vertical pieces that were displayed close together. Apparently it was a work of a famous modern artist. Oops!! This rube missed that. Also the free form glass piece (ah hem...looked like a bowl) on the pedestal near the hall to the bedroom was also the work of another famous aritisan. I think it was several thousand as in $100K. They talked about the lazyboy and duct tape...and a few other details. I wasn't focused on the door...so I don't recall that in particular. But at least you might be able to acquire an image or maybe a contact lead of the architect or designer of the set. I believe they provided that too!

Sorry I don't recall the name of the book. Contact your local library or even your Barnes Noble. You just may find paydirt!

I will call my librarian tomorrow and see if I can obtain the title.

TV sets...I think was the title. Best of luck! CasaBlanca

PS. I am hearing the theme song to Frasier...funny ;)

Was that the door that was like a large square/triangle parquet? Probably a set prop, easily DIY'd using a plain door and some carefully cutting of the wood veneer of your choice. A three hour project, max.

I don't remember the wall art, but the glass sculpture was a Chihuly.
If only I could afford a $100K prop.

Splatgirl,

You were right...Chihuly...

Dad please don't use my Chihuly as a waste can!!

Like I said this rube missed that one. The sofa was also some fancy smancy designer...I suppose I need to get out more often.

Sorry it took me so long to obtain the book title.

Sitcom style : inside America's favorite TV homes / Diana Friedman.

ISBN: 1400051789

Hope that helps on the door issue.
