Smooth finish for concrete floors

I was in Italy and a friend had a 200 year old masonry cottage renovated and the interior was done in a modern stark white on walls and flooring. The flooring was a beautiful finish and I am trying to find out manufacturers of this type of floor finishing products. Anyone have any ideas?
