floor covering under kitchen table

Posted by Alison Wheeler at May 09. 2007

Hi all,

I'm looking for an affordable and modern floor covering to put under my kitchen table.  I have a plain white rectangular table with aluminum legs, and right now it's floating in a very lonesome way on top of our ebony-stained oak floor.

I want to put some sort of carpet or floor cloth underneath it.  Obviously, the kitchen chairs need to be able to slide easily, and it needs to be stain resistant/easy to clean - particularly since I have two small children.  That's why I'm leaning toward a floor cloth.

I found a place where you can print a photo onto canvas, which is then treated, which may work as a floor cloth.  But does anyone have suggestions of something pre-made?  Not sure if I want to go through the effort of making my own.  Needs to be less than $1K and around 10x10.

My designer showed me some nice flat wool rugs, but they were really expensive (as usual) and probably hard to keep clean.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

if you can't find a precut one- any dealer can cut it to the size you need.  since you don't need installation it should be less that $1k.

lots of colors- indestructible- easy to slide on.

there's other immitations on the market too if you search for woven vinyl.
