Metal house in Dwell

Posted by Patrick Slatin at September 06. 2007

Has anyone seen the Walz house in the latest issue of dwell?

I like it a lot. Albeit a bit small at 1200sq. ft.

I may be nuts, but I'm considering building something like this but a bit bigger 1600-1800 sq. ft. with three bedrooms.

I was wondering if a lender would finance one of these.

Please feel free to comment.

Depends on the terms. If you can demostrate that they will be financing an amount less than their appraised value, they will probably work with you. So, if a 1800 SF house design on your lot is appraised at $250k then they might let you borrow $230k or so. If your lot is going to cost you $100k and the construction will cost $200k, then  you had better have $70k of your own as a down payment.

Nice, simple house.
