1960's Bucket Chair detaching from base!

Posted by Barbara Simon at January 21. 2011

Hi,

I have a 1960’s swivel  bucket chair that looks like the chairs in this picture. The base is coming loose from the chair.  How do I tighten this?  Does the seat cushion lift up to expose a screw?  Thank you.

That's a lovely set you've got there. Do yourself a favor and run the chair with the looseness issue down to a professional upholsterers so he can remove and tighten the seat without ruining the covering.

Those are some real space-age chairs and a table right out of the Jetsons! I guess the best approach would be to carefully remove the cover around where the base is attached and repair the break with some epoxy.
