Pivot and Slide Doors

Posted by ritter vonali at April 10. 2007

I have an idea for replacing a wall with 3-4 pivot & slide door system where you can rotate the doors on their center axis and leave in that position or slide them away towards the edge. I'm trying to find out if a system like this already exists (can't find anything out there) or if this looks like a custom job.

See my flickr set for a mockup.

thanks for any advice

I've never seen anything exactly like you are showing. What you are sketching would be very hard to weatherstrip, but if you are in LA, then it would not matter much... Bi-folding window walls seem to be the new black - NanaWall, and other competitors are coming on the market. But the action is not quite the same.

Forgot to mention the wall isn't an  exterior one. It divides the living room and bedroom. Thanks for the tip on nanawall.

Check out the interior partitions section-  might be something there...

Ahh - an interior partition may be easier to rig from other hardware. Richards Wilcox has all manner of heavy hardware: http://www.richardswilcox.com/hardware/

came across this link on http://www.materialicio.us/ Ray Door - looks like they do pivots. I think it may be just like what you are looking for: http://raydoor.com/RD%20Website/gallery/gallery-pivoting.html#

Hello,

A nice website where you should look for your sliding door hardware need, is  http://www.contemporary-door-hardware.com

They have all kind of contemporary hardware, like door pulls for entry doors, nice contemporary door stops in stainless steel, and of course door handles.

There is also modern pocket door hardware.
