sliding closet door idea's ?...

Posted by Lino DiSalvo at July 14. 2005

Hey all,

i finally got the keys to my home in Glendale CA, in Adam Hill's...it's 60's home with lots of potential...

im currently in the process of repainting and putting in Bamboo flooring...

my question is what do i do with the current crappy gold trimmed sliding mirror closest doors that are in every room ? what have you guys used for sliding closet doors ? most of my furniture is Mid century Modern...

thanks much !
LinoD.

I'd just replace them with slab wood-faced (birch, maple or luan) sliding doors.

That Johnson ceiling mounted slding door hardware is great! They have it on the door display wall at my local BMC, and the dors slide out on those rails. They roll so nice and smooth, and feel really solid. The track sets aren't that expensive either.

I'd vote for the birch or luaun slab doors too. Or look at the Eichler sites and see our shoji type doors. There are people who fabricate their own with stock molding and say it isn't too hard.
